TWC partners with Street Football Wales
For the past several months, The White Curl and Street Football Wales have worked toward a partnership with a singular goal in mind: to bring a men’s and women’s national team to the Homeless World Cup in Sacramento, California this July!
Being that The White Curl was founded after our experience at the 2019 Homeless World Cup in Cardiff, this partnership is truly a full-circle moment for our organization and we are ready to get to work!
What is Street Football Wales?
Street Football Wales offers opportunities for people who have been socially isolated and excluded by providing an open, inclusive, and safe environment to come and play football, make friends, build self-confidence and to support them on their own personal journeys.
Street Football Wales is now preparing to select the national squads that will go on to represent their country at The Homeless World Cup. These squads aim to use the positive power of football to raise the profile of social exclusion and homelessness on a national and global stage, as well as challenge the perceptions of people caught in social exclusion. The memories of these experiences allow the players to build unfathomable resilience.
Our organizations are working lockstep to raise the £35,000 needed for Team Wales to afford the cost of this trip and training for the players, coaches, and volunteers.
Alongside Michael Sheen, we are planning for a series of auctions and the opening of a merch store where you’ll be able to pick up all the gear you’ll need to support Team Wales from wherever you are in the world! We are planning for these fundraising activities to begin in late March and run through early May 2023.
